Fix issue with Hiti S420 printer

How to fix issue with Hiti S420 printing Orange / Peach /Apricot with new official media?

What is the reason for the issue?
HiTi has opened a new plant to produce ribbon in Vietnam, and the new media produced here tends to give a orange colour on prints. HiTi is working on resolving this issue, however in the meantime, there is a new firmware for the printer that helps fix the problem. We have provided a link to this file below, and reccomend that it only be used by a qualified technician. If you use it it is at your own risk.

We urge you to rather contact your technician or the company you buy the media from to do the correction, their charge could be a lot less costly than if you do this yourself and make a mistake.

Guidlines to installing fix

  1. Read all instructions before starting!
  2. After downloading the file double click on it and extract it to a folder of your choice.
  3. Ensure you have administrator access to the PC, and
  4. ensure that your printer is connected and turned on.
  5. Goto the extratcted folder called "S420_FW_V1.29_AP"
  6. run the executable "BurnFW-3.8.2.exe"
  7. wait for the firmware update to complete, at this stage if you turn off the printer or restart the PC you will destroy the firmware in the printer, and your printer will never work again.
  8. you will know that the priter is being updates as the green light will flash
  9. once the update is finished the green light will stay solid and no longer flash.
  10. When this happens do a test print
  11. Once the test print has been completed and you are sure that the printer is working and the firmware update has been completed, then go to the folder "S420_Driver_v3.0.0.22b" and run the executable "autorun.exe"
  12. This will load the new printer driver for your PC, and usually asks you to restart the PC. (Do not restart if the printer is still doing a firmware update, ie the green light is flashing)
  13. Once you have completed this process and the new driver is installed, we find that adding 10 points of Cyan in IDphotos Pro or ID Passport Express gives the best colour output that can be made with the new media.
